2017 Annual General Meeting of AEFJN

Africa Europe Faith and Justice Network (AEFJN), formed by forty-eight religious Congregations working for economic justice between Africa and Europe, held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 10th November, 2017 in Rome. Thirty Religious men and women from around twenty member-Congregations, among them 3 Missionnary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa, gathered together  to listen to reports from the Secretariat in Brussels and the Executive Committee, and to enhance the work of AEFJN.
The Secretariat reported some success stories. In Koudiadiène, Senegal, a mine of phosphate is destroying the environment and ignoring the socio-economic rights of the local people. For three years, research, dialogue, and advocacy work done in collaboration with the Madrid Antenna, and the civil society of Senegal have brought the promise by the mining company to provide clean water, medicines, an ambulance, and training for young people and women.
